Rwanda National Police has introduced disposable head covers for motorcyclist passengers, to promote hygiene at work.
Ruhango district police started this program on February 29th 2012 and warned motorcyclists that whoever will be caught doing contrary to the law will be punished.

The motorcyclists were asked to give every passenger a head cover first, disposed in the place meant for them after use and not asking for extra money from passengers lying that they bought head covers.

Nyamagana police Station commander in Ruhango district Inspector Habibu Rwigamba during the event to officially start this program told the motorcyclists that whoever is caught in a mistake will pay a fine of Rwf10000(ten thousand).
Also the police reminded them that disposable head covers are disposed after a single use and motorcyclists will be buying them at Rwf40 each.
Gabby Nsanzegahondogo in charge of finance in Ruhango district asked the motorcycle owners to fully follow the instructions from the police concerning the head covers.
On the other hand motorcyclists asked the police administration to train young police who might fine motorcyclists for not wearing head covers when they are meant for passengers.
Ministry of health emphasizes that it will take part in following up the implementation of head cover program with an aim of preventing diseases that might come from passengers’ helmets.
