Rwanda | Gakenke: Leaders urged to change residents social welfare

Rwanda Minister for Social welfare Aloysea Inyumba has asked local leaders and district officials to work hard and improve social welfare of residents for promotion of families and Gender equality.
This was said on February 29th 2012 when the Minister of gender and family promotion Aloysea Inyumba visited Gakenke district.

“The role of leaders is to change the residents’ way of living. In this journey to transform the country we do not look at the papers but actions,” says minister Inyumba.
Minister Inyumba asked the local leaders to and different district officials to work as a team advice each other, to be honest, change mindset and taking decisions so as to perform their roles.
She urged leaders to work hard so that Gakenke district comes from last to first. “I do not want Gakenke to be the last. Things have to change this year what so ever,” adds Minister Inyumba
Derogates Nzamwita, Gakenke district mayor emphasises that this district has gone far in implementing some of its performance contracts, the same reason it cannot remain back.
Complaining of the problems facing the district to the minister, electricity was talked about and the minister promised them advocacy to the concerned authorities.
Gakenke district is among the districts that have little or low electricity in Rwanda and residents with electricity make 1% in Gakenke district.
