Rwanda : Canada to deport 2nd genocide suspect

Télesphore Dereva, will be second Rwandan genocide suspect to be deported by the government of Canada, barely two months after deportation of Most wanted Canadian suspect Léon Mugesera, this January 2012.
Dereva was arrested on March 5, 2012, by the Canadian Immigration following an international arrest warrant issued by the Justice of Rwanda.
His lawyer, Philippe Larochelle, said that Dereva received a letter in late February of the Canadian Border Services Agency (FSA) asking him to appear at the local office for questioning.
“Upon his arrival Dereva was transferred to a detention center for illegal immigrants in Laval” his lawyer said.
The government of Rwanda accuses him of being part of the extremist Interahamwe militia. He has been resident in Canada since 2007 in Quebec.
