Rwanda | Teachers have been asked to put effort in teaching so thatstudents pass wellNational examinations of 2012.
The demand was made this March2012 by Gakenke district vice mayor in charge of social affairs during the meeting withteachers from Gakenke sector.
Zephyrin Ntakirutimana, vice mayor highlights that all schools whose students excelled in exams achieved it through cooperation between teachers and local leadership. Ntakirutimana asked the participants to work as a team so as to improve the performance.
In order to help students in preparing for their exams, teachers for candidate classes have been asked to work extra hours and days but schools will provide allowances for them.
Also, teachers were advised to encourage students to form discussion groups so that bright students explain to their fellows.
The local authorities called upon teachers to emphasise sanitation among students and to separate boys’ toilets from the girl’s toilets.
Teachers confirmed to the authorities that they are going to work very hard so that all students perform better this year.
Ranking how students performed in national examinations last year, Gakenke districtcame the last.
