The delaying of newly organized education curriculum in Rwanda has called forattention, where Nyamasheke district authorities have met to discuss it with Executive secretaries from the district sectors, according to the meeting report of 02/03/2012.
Modeste Izerimana, in charge of coordination works to accomplish the rooms meant for the 12 years basic education program in Nyamasheke district of the western province revealed some weaknesses of several sectors that are still under way, however pointing out some sectors which have shown success.
Izerimana reiterated that sectors which have not accomplished need to be questioned on how the budget was utilized, adding that those who performed well be awarded.
Nyamasheke district mayor Jean Baptiste Habyarimana urged executive secretaries of sectors still lagging behind to construct classrooms before the next academic year for the successful implementation of the 12-year basic education program in the area.
“the budget we had set for every sector was enough because most of the work is done by residents in communal work and pledges so we don’t see why you haven’t finished if you used this money as not required you may be held corrupt so we ask you to work hand in hand with residents and finish the rooms as required.” Said the mayor.
The district needs over 165 classrooms and 180 restrooms among which 155 are still under way construction.
