Rwanda Catholic University Genocide Survivors with the University Rector, Gahizi J.M Vinney
Following the 1994 genocide against Tutsis that left over one million innocents killed, in the aftermath there rose a number of unions (mostly called families) made up of orphans or widows.
AERG/IJABO – a union of survivors studying at the Rwanda Catholic University located in Save Sector in Gisagara district has decided to put every member’s story during the genocide on record.
Jean Damascene MUDAHEMUKA is the coordinator of AERG/IJABO, he says that every member of the association will be given a number of pages to write down his/her experiences during the genocide terrible times.
This comes following, genocide negativists who have for the past years been trying to portray a different image of the genocide.
Gatali Ejide- a countrywide representative of AERG says that “Despite efforts by different unions of the 1994 Genocide survivors like AERG, FARG and IBUKA to curb down the genocide’s repercussion, we still face some challenges especially from Genocide perpetuators who radically have always tried to deface the genocide’s history”
