The secondary school head teachers in Muhanga district have been asked to stop comparing schools they lead to prisons as students need free time to learn social life away from schools in entrepreneurshipcourses.
They were asked this by Rwanda Education Board (REB) in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Ntatiro Senseri the expert in UNIDO asked these head teachers to put much emphasis in entrepreneurship lessons and be ready to provide students with internship lessons outside their schools.
He said; “it is good for a student to be free and learn how other people achieved what they aspired for and how the ways they passed through outside the schoolenvironment.”
Florian Rutiyomba a worker in REB said that many people discredit entrepreneurship lessons but the fact that many people didn’t get a chance to study them and even some don’t understand these lessons, it is the cause for unemployment in this country.
“Some people have Doctorate degrees ‘Doctor of Philosophy’ [PhD] in physics and other subjects but are unemployed, this is the effects of not studying entrepreneurship because those who paid much attention to it are able to create their jobs and employ others” He said.
Rutiyomba said that putting much emphasis on this course does not mean teaching many things about it but to show students examples of the people who became successful because of this course and share their testimonies.
