Students at Kigali school of finance and banking this Thursday were trained on the historical background of tax collection and laws regarding taxes in Rwanda.
This program is country wide campaigns organized by Rwanda revenue authority that will see all Rwandans understand the role of taxes in the national development.
Following the ongoing campaign that commenced with tax payers , RRA has extended the campaign to higher institutions that begun today at the school of banking and finance located here in Kigali, gikondo.
RRA commissioner Ben Kagarama Bahizi said that teaching students about taxes is a road map to have future literate citizens with tax law awareness and the culture of paying taxes for the benefit of the nation.
“We want to teach institutions because we’re aware that these are people doing a lot of research and they can help us advocate and sensitize Rwandans on the role of taxes towards Rwanda’s economy”. Said Bahizi.
The rector of SFB Prof Reid Whitlock revealed the importance of such lessons to students doing business and financial studies saying that this boosts their knowledge.
“this an advantage to students and the government because they get first hand information concerning the field of studies the students are pursuing here , and the good this is that these trainings go hand in hand with what they will do after studies” said Whitlock.
Students have been trained on the types of taxes in Rwanda, the history of taxes and laws and regulations regarding tax payment in Rwanda. Ends.
