Three women from Rulindo and Nyabihu districts have been awarded certificates and money for being exemplary in terms of farming that has brought achieving in their families.
The awarding ceremony was organised by OXFAM an organisation that supports farming activities in the two districts of Rulindo and Nyabihu.
The head of OXFAM in Rwanda Maggie Carroll said, “We organised this awarding ceremony as a trial but since we have seen it to be a good initiative, we shall expand it even to other places where OXFAM operates”.
The first contestant from each district was a warded with Rwf300, 000, the second got Rwf200, 000 and the third contestant got Rwf150, 000 respectively.
The first contestant from Rulindo district Dancille Mukangerageze said they were awarded for their tremendous contribution towards development of Rwandans.
“My role in various developmental projects like poultry farming which in involved over 68 women have made me win this competition”, Dancille Mukangerageze remarked.
Many of these women confess to have started with little money to set up small earning projects like poultry farming, bee farming, and carpentry but now boost of having managed to build themselves good modern houses.
