Students to be sensitized on voluntary testing for HIV/AIDS

Nyamagabe district officials in the meeting

Marcel Kambanda the coordinator of CDLS (District AIDS Control Committees) in Ruhango district said that this sensitization will be mostly concerned for people between 15 and 49 years of age and they plan to have circumcised about 1/5 of all males in this district by 2013.

This was said when the government of Rwanda said that by 2013, about 2 Million males will be circumcised voluntarily.

Those who attended this meeting decided to be giving discussions and lectures to sensitize youth to fight against HIV/AIDS, voluntary testing, circumcising and family planning.

With this they believe, AIDS scourge that is eminent in youth will decrease tremendously. Research shows that a person who is circumcised and has unprotected sex with an AIDS patient has 60% chance of not being infected.
