
While cleanliness has become an issue in different districts of Rwanda with much emphasis on meat roasting places, it is different in Ngororero district.
While some of the requirements by health officials include building roasting kitchens using tiles and locating them where customers can see, no single bar in this district seems to have applied the rule.
In some bars, the meat is roasted near the toilets and using dirty utensils. This puts the lives of customers at risk of getting poor hygiene diseases.
After the ministry of health emphasized the use of wood sticks instead metallic ones to roast on, some clients wonder if they clean them because wood sticks are seen full of ingredients and oil that have piled for days.
Although metallic sticks were banned due to health risks, in some
bars you find that the sticks have turned their colour to black, which
is evident that they have been over used
