Rwanda National police and the Burundi police forces on Monday 07th May 2012 signed agreements to exchange information between the two police forces at the headquarters of the Rwanda national police.
Based on reports of Burundians who have participated in the 1994 genocide against Tutsi, Burundi agreed to send them to Rwanda for trial.
The Director General of Police of Burundi, Fabien Ndayishimiye said that based on the good cooperation of the two countries, Burundi is ready to send any suspect to Rwanda if any information is availed.
On his part, the inspector general of police Emmanuel Gasana said that besides exchange of criminals, the Rwanda National Police provides training to police officers of Burundi on the fight against sexual violence. He added that normally the two countries cooperate in the exchange of criminals arrested in Burundi or Rwanda.
The Director General of Police of Burundi, Fabien Ndayishimiye indicated that there is good cooperation in regards with 1994 genocide fugitives hand over.
