Rwanda | Burera: genocide survivors’ school dropouts need help- Mayor


Burera district mayor has vowed to campaign for students who survived the 1994 genocide against Tutsi and dropped out of school causing to miss higher education scholarship for studies .

 Samuel Sembagare said that even if students didn’t get enough marks, which cannot stop them from studying at the university.
Fabien Niyonsenga the representative of genocide survivors in Burera district also said that these students are capable of learning at the university though they did not get the desired marks for scholarships.
“Though these students didn’t get desired marks that FARG needs to sponsor them, they are also capable of getting to the university and learn well and pass.” He said.
Not get university level education makes them unable to compete for jobs with others of that education level as Niyonsenga explained.
Niyonsenga said that 10 students who are genocide survivors in Burera district were unable to continue their education to the university level
