Minister Kanimba unveils the RAM logo
The Rwanda manufacturers’ umbrella body, which collapsed years ago, was re-launched On Thursday with calls on industrialists to improve quality and product branding.
According to the Association Chairman Robert Bayigamba, manufacturers have for long been facing a number of persistent problems, including lack of skilled human capital, high cost of doing business, infiltration of sub-standard goods and poor branding.
Bayigamba says that the new body would push for improved quality and ways to reduce the cost of doing business and pledged to lobby government to solve the numerous challenges faced by industries.
Mrs Betty Maina, chief executive of Kenya Association of Manufactures who graced the revival of the Rwanda Association of Manufacturers, previously known as Association des Industries du Rwanda, advised the association to deliver good services to its members and work with the government to find solutions to problems faced by manufacturers.
The Minister of Trade and Industry Francois Kanimba who presided over the re-launch acknowledged the Rwanda Manufacturers for this initiative and encouraged them to produce competitive products and improve their brands to help increase the country’s export base and earnings.
He promised government support to the Rwanda Manufactures Association. The association is targeting to recruit over 200 members within a year, especially the small-scale manufacturers.
