Lovers of cinema will again be entertained at Goethe German Institute when Layla Fourie, a 2013 thriller movie will be screen on Tuesday. Layla Fourie, a young single-mother in South Africa, receives a job assignment as polygraphist. In the constant presence of mistrust, lies and fear Layla soon becomes a suspect herself.
She’s a single mother living with her son in Johannesburg, getting by with casul work. After training as a polygraphist, she manages to secure a job with a company specializing in lie detectors and security. On her way to her new workplace, she is involved in an accident which will fundamentally change her life. Layla becomes entangled in a web of lies and deceit. The truth could lead to the loss of her son.
The movie is a co-production between Germany, South Africa, France and the Netherlands. It premiered in competition at the 63rd Berlin Film Festival where Marais won a special mention.It will be screened at 6.30pm, and entrance will be free of charge.
