Nyamirama new Maternity Ward to save more mother-infants lives

The residents of Nyamirama sector as well as neighbouring sectors in Kayonza district have a goal of making sure that no mother gives birth at home ever again. This they revealed after the official inauguration of the Maternity Ward built at the Nyamirama Health Center.

“Now our wish is fulfilled, a best maternity hall was opened near us, no mother should take a risk of giving birth at home, many lives will be saved for mothers and infants” says one of the celebrating mother Francine Yankurije.

Jacques Nsengiyumva the director of Nyamirama Health Center says the center provides medical services to about 25,000 patients without including students from Neighbouring schools of Kayonza Modern Secondary School and Nyamirama Secondary Schools.

The old Maternity Ward of Nyamirama Health Center had been small limiting services of midwives and nurses to mothers. With the new Maternity Ward with all necessary equipment will facilitate mothers and good service delivery.

Apart from the newly built Maternity Ward, Nyamirama Health Center got a new house that will be used for HIV/AIDS preventive program including testing and counseling. All these are part of the Kayonza district 2012/2013 economic year performing contracts.
