Members of COPRORIZ Ntende Cooperative that grows rice in Ntende swamps in Rugarama sector in Gatsibo district are grateful of the steps they have taken in development due to their farming
Building cooperative’s operating offices, constructing the stores and drying places for the rice production as well as buying 3 trucks worth Rwf70 million are some of the newly achieved goals of the rice growers cooperative.
Jean Damascene Rwamwaga the president of COPRORIZ Ntende Cooperative says all these goals were achieved due to the cooperation of the members. The president adds on “Good management of the cooperative and members full participation is part of the cooperative’s growth.”
However, this cooperative has limitations that hinder its full growth as the president of the cooperative explained during the visit from the team from the Ministry of Trade and Industry on the 16th.July.2013.
“Though we have achieved satisfying goals, we still have limitations including the need to expand our market to international since we still provide rice in Rwanda.”
Gervais Sagahutu a farmer that was awarded for hard work that is to say producing 1.3 tons of rice on a 20 hectares plantation. He intends to at least produce 2 tons of rice on this same land by working harder.
COPRORIZ Ntende Cooperative was formed in 2003, it grows rice in Rugarama, Rwimbogo and Gitoki sectors with 3300 members.
