Eastern Province Governor calls upon local authorities to enforce working hours for the bars and other drinking points during the meeting that gathered security officials in villages, cells and sectors of Rwamagana and Kayonza districts.
The Governor cautioned local leaders that do not follow up on the enforcement of the policy regarding the bars remarking, “Allowing residents to spend long hours in bars is promoting laziness and poverty and encouraging alcoholism”
Governor Uwamariya reminded local authorities to follow up the bars owners’ operation time so that residents get time to work and develop socially and economically.
Bars in rural areas of Eastern Province are allowed to open at 5:00 pm and close at 8:00 pm while bars in towns close at 10:00 pm for security purposes and development of the residents.
