Fertilizer importation to Rwanda is set to drastically reduce. This as government reveals that it is already constructing a fertilizer factory in the new industrial zone in Gasabo district.
Prime Minister Pierre Damien Habumuremyi while addressing both chambers of parliament said local farmers are currently purchasing imported fertilizers at very high costs, but says with local production the price will go down.
The Prime minister added that the crop intensification programs are one of the major program that government support to increase agricultural output and food that will help combat malnutrition.
However some MPs and Senators questioned food products that remain expensive in the country even with government support being channeled to agriculture.
