The last year 2012/2013, the Nyamagabe district had vowed to district electricity to 10percent of the families but achieved only 9.1percent due to different limitations especially the failure of their partners in this venture.

According to the mayor of the district, Philbert Mugisha, this failure was caused by the shortcomings by the Energy, Water and Sanitation organization. Though the venture to give electricity to 3.9percent families is so difficult, the district will definitely achieve it.

“We have moved from 3.39percent top 9.1percent in the period of one year and distributing electricity to 3.9percent families will not fail us. We have set strategies; we have support from different organization, so we will definitely get to 13percent.”

Among the set strategies for the district to achieve 3.9percent distribution of electricity include new electricity sites that will be constructed of Buruhukiro-Gatare and other two in Cyanika and Mbazi sectors.

The district plans to distribute electricity in other trading centers additional to security lights erected in Nyamagabe town, Gasarenda town and Kitabi Center in the last economic year.
