New multi-storey buildings to enhance economic development in Nyaruguru district

This yet-to-be officially inaugurated two-storey building will serve as Nyaruguru district’s main office. It cost over Rwf500, 000,000

Two multi-storey hotels are now nearing completion in Kibeho sector, Southern Rwanda, as part of Nyaruguru district’s long-term plan to fully exploit its religion-oriented tourism and business potentials.

The two hotels will mainly serve to accommodate the many tourists – estimated at around 100,000 yearly – who flock Kibeho pilgrimage site.

These hotels are also expected to house offices for a number of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) based in Kibeho.

Until recently, there was no accommodation buildings in Nyaruguru district – leave alone hotels. And different visitors to the district were compelled to make their way to neighbouring, town-based district of Huye to spend nights there.

But it seems this trend is now on the ceasing. Already there is a mini-hotel named “Pacis Hotel” owned by Sisters of the Order of “Bene Bikira”.

Nyaruguru district leadership is also involved in this modern construction move. At Ndago, the district’s headquarters, a two-storey building is now complete for what a top district official called a resolve “to enhance quality service delivery and foster good governance”.
