Rubavu residents report bombs shelling on Rwandan territory

Rubavu residents report bombs shelling on Rwandan territory

Residents in Busasamana sector in the Western district of Rubavu have reported bombing on Rwandan territory yet again, just a day after the Rwanda defense forces handed over three Congolese soldiers who had been arrested and detained in Rwanda by Security Forces.

Though there has not been any official government statement on this incident, Rwanda has been on several occasions attacked by the Congolese army on it sovereign grounds in the last few months.

The government of Rwanda protested what it called “deliberate bombing” of its territory after several shells landed in a rural area as fighting raged around Goma in Eastern DR Congo recently.

Residents of Rusura cell where the bombs were hurled say that they are now scared because the refugees from Dr Congo are coming in big numbers and yet the Congolese army is consistently firing in the areas where they are seeking refuge.

Local leaders at Rusura cell say that the first bomb was shelled at around 7.40am at the Pentecost (ADPR) church near the home of one Augustin Binyoni.

At around mid day, the residents again reported yet another shelling in Kageyo village of Rusura cell. The bomb is reported to have wounded a Congolese refugee woman who is being treated at Bugeshi Health Center.
