The four Heads of state during the 3rd Infrastructure Summit
President Paul Kagame, today welcomed Presidents of Uganda, South Sudan and Kenya and they held discussions about the Integration Projects at the 3rd Infrastructure Summit.
Kagame and his counterparts President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, President Salva Kiir of Sudan and President Uhuru Kenyatta begun with signing of MoU’s and launching the single customs territory.
The single customs territory will reduce time for cargo to reach Rwanda from Mombasa from 15 to five days.
President Kagame said that the Single customs territory is an important milestone that will contribute to growth of the economy.
“We are encouraged by progress but still have a lot to do & long way to go to get to where we want to be”
President Kenyatta said he is very excited about progress made in short period of time towards achieving vision of integrated East African region and committed himself to continuing this process “we have started and ensuring its success.”
“This summit gives the impetus to help create jobs and opportunity for our people and create greater prosperity. We look forward to November when we break ground for railway line that will connect us to Kampala, Kigali & Juba,” said Kenyatta.
President Salva Kiir said that Rwanda has been an inspiration for the world as it overcomes its past and builds a better future for its people. We are moving towards the betterment of the lives of our people
For President Museveni said that he is grateful for launching an initiative that addresses their struggle to become prosperous. ‘We are uniting our efforts to guarantee our sovereignty,” he said
