Living in a country like Rwanda, whose night in the capital city Kigali glitters like California streets with enough light that lets cars shut down their lights, will let everyone demand for light.
Residents of Ngoma district’s town have been demanding street light so that their businesses can extend till late hours like other Rwandan towns.
Ngoma district officials had promised that by March 2012, the town’s streets would be light but till May 2012; residents claimed only electric poles were seen.
University students of INALEK, a university situated in the town claim that lack of streets lets thieves steal students’ mobile phones and hand bags at night due to darkness.
Given a change in leadership of the district, slight delay occurred in delivering the electricity service as had been promised by Niyotwagira Francois the former district Mayor. However the district officials have promised that soon streets will be having light.
The Ngoma street lighting project is expected to cost about 90 Million Rwandan Francs.
