Rwanda | Kirehe: Cooperatives to fund Valuable projects

An event to displaying unique projects has taken place in Gatore sector so that the best are funded for implementation, as of may2012
Residents from different villages compete on studying the projects with cooperatives and the winners are given money to develop the projects.
Viateur Karangwa, who works in a cooperative that promotes agriculture in Kirehe district, confirms that they fund income generating projects and projects that conserve the environment.
Pierre Claver Ntahonkiriye, Rubira village leader in Rubimba cell who won for making firewood saving stove project, narrates that he and the residents will build more stoves so that every resident owns one in order to protect the environment.
Ntahonkiriye adds that they will continue to create projects that will help residents to achieve social and economic development.
This program of rewarding the best projects is organized by KWAMP (Kirehe Community-Based Watershed Management Project) under Centre communautaire d’innovation (community centre innovation).
