Nyabihu district is one of Rwanda’s districts that have for the past been endangered by its residents’ lack of safe drinking water, but with continued government projects and WASH project, reasonable progress has began to be noticed.
WASH is an organization that supplies safe drinking water in Burera, Nyabihu and Rubavu districts.
Cyamabuye-Mukamira is one of the newly completed water supply channel system. Residents of Mukamira currently have access to safe drinking water at only a fee of 10 Rwandan Francs a 20 liters can.
Jean Paul a resident of Mukamira says “At first we could go fetch water from several unsafe sources like swamps. This time, we thank God our children can drink hygienically safe water.”
Regarding water supplies more projects to supply more are underway including Jomba and Munkari water distribution projects both of which are about to be finished.
