Patrick Nyamitali and Phionah escape the probation scare at TPF6

Patrick Nyamitali and Phionah escape the probation scare at TPF6

Rwanda’s Patrick Nyamitali

For the second week running Rwanda’s Patrick Nyamitali and Phionah have put up an impressive performance at this year’s Tusker Project Fame six in the Kenyan capital Nairobi.

On Sunday October 20, the two managed to escape the first round of probation as three of Kenya’s participants were sent to the dreaded house. Judges Ian Mbugua, Jean Paul Samputu and Hermy described their performances as satisfying, something that will sound good to their ears.

Speaking of the contestants sent on probation, the three-judge bench was unanimous that they lacked confidence, misinterpreted the songs or just failed out on beat control.

Those sent on probation include Fess, Jennifer and Mishel, all from Kenya, while Bior from South Sudan and Undercover Brother followed suit. Contestants are put on a strict one-week training programme that sees faculty coaches work on their voices, their choreography in order to bring the show to near perfection.

The impressive run of form from both Nyamitali and Phionah will increase hope that another Rwandan can win the reality TV show’s coveted prize of five million Kenyan Shillings since Alpha Rwirangira did so four years ago.

The only other Rwandan contestant who ever came close to winning it was Jackson Kalimba, who last year, was beaten by Kenyan duo Ruth Matete and Doreen.

The show will continue on Sunday October 27 as the second contingent of five contestants will re3ceive their marching orders from the academy.
