Kidumu condemns lack of sportsmanship among artistes

Veteran musician Kidum Kibido has condemned a lack of sportsmanship among some Rwandan artistes for their failure to acknowledge defeat in Primus Guma Guma Super Star. The Burundian born musician was among the four-judge bench at the competition which was eventually scooped by Riderman. But after the first round of elimination, both Senderi International and rapper Bulldog expressed their dissatisfaction citing incidences of “massive irregularities”.

 

Bulldog went ahead to accuse organizers of the competition of lacking a clear-cut criteria, saying he had fulfilled all of them only to be eliminated. He said, “When we started this competition they told us that for one to advance they had to have the audience, good stage management and a good disciplinary record. So for me to be out, I don’t know if that changed.”

But Kidum believes if such unworthy critics continue to mar the competition, then it would risk being in jeopardy in near future. Speaking to the media, Kidum said, “I don’t understand what they (musicians) expect because in every competition there must be a winner and a loser. If this trend is allowed to go on like this, it will be a big problem in the future.”

It was the first time the competition introduced a judge bench in its three editions, although pundits argue that their role was unclassified and unclear.
