Gakenke residents call for realistic Projects

Gakenke residents call for realistic Projects

The projects operating in Gakenke district are being required to work on realistic programs that will quicken the development of the people instead of looking for profits.

This was said by Jean Paul Munyandamutsa the coordinator of JADF in Rwanda Good Governance Board (RGB) in the retreat of Gakenke District’s Partners in development in Musanze district on the 22nd -23rd.Aug.2013.

“Some projects are out for their personal gain. They make projects and solicit funding form international organization and chew the money without helping people in anyway” says Munyandamutsa.

“The strength JADF (Joint Action Development Forum) has surpassed in the district should be applied in the sectors. JADF is supposed to incorporate local people in their development and with a local JADF, people will own up to it and its actions” says Munyandamutsa.

In this 2 days retreat, presentations to make better the working relationship between the Partners in development and their beneficiaries were given.

The retreat attendees discussed a lot of issues and concluded that not respecting partners, lack of communication and not giving the required reports on time are the limitations for the district’s development.

Lack of participation in JADF’s meetings and not giving the contribution fees also limit the working relationship of the partner organizations and the district.

The retreat attendants vowed to change all these and participate in the implementation of Performing Contracts as well as the development of the people with projects like providing them with services like water, health centers, and electricity among others.

Aimable Nsengiyumva the coordinator of World Vision ADP Nyarutovu that funded this retreat said this event was of importance for partner organizations to know and learn from each other.

Projects and cooperatives funded by partner organizations help[ the district to develop its people by developing social and economic welfare of the people through different projects like Health Centers, schools, agriculture and many others.
