Karongi: Poor residents get 150 cows

The ongoing promotion of families through the program ‘Girinka Munyarwanda’, DUHAMIC ADRI has given 150 in calf cows to poor residents.

A nongovernmental organization (DUHAMIC ADRI) on February 29^th 2012 gave 150 cows to the poor people from different sectors that make Karongi district.

The cows were given to the poor residents through the cooperatives in the random manner where at least everycooperative member got a cow.

Innocent Benineza, Executive secretary of DUHAMIC ADRI at national level has told the reporters that giving out cows to residents in Karongi was given priority before other activities in this district.

The beneficiaries were happy for the 50 in calf cows given to them which they say they have been given two cows each in one way or another.

Bernard Kayumba, mayor for Karongi district thanked DUHAMIC ADRI saying it should be an example to other donors.

Over 3000 cows have been given in karongi in “Girinka Munyarwanda” program that was initiated by the president ofRwanda Paul Kagame.
