Rwanda To Join The Worlds Water Day Celebrations.

International world water day is held annually on the 22nd march as a means of focusing attention on the importance of fresh and clean water and advocating for sustainable management of freshwater resources.
According to the press release from the ministry of natural resources, Rwanda has a signed a week code named Rwanda water week that starts this Monday the 19th _ 23rd march.
During this week the government will engage in the sensitization of the population on various aspects of water and food security as embedded in this year’s theme, “proper use of water and food security.”
The ministry of natural resources reiterates that 7 billion people feed on the planet today and another 2 billion are expected to join by 2050. Statistics say that a person drinks from 2 to 4 litres of water every day, however most of the water we ‘drink’ is embedded in the food we eat.
Mr. Vincent de Paul kabalisa, Vice Director in the ministry of natural resources says that this year’s theme in Rwanda was chosen depicting the role of water on the social wellbeing of the citizens.
Cerebrations to mark the international water day on the national level in Rwanda will be held on the 22ndmarch 2012.
Various key institutions involved in water and food security will be involved in the planning andimplementation of the events. These will include the ministry of natural resources, Rwanda natural resources authority, ministry of infrastructure, districts, development partners and the ministry of agriculture.
