Mugarura Fidel presenting the statistics
Ruhango district managed to contribute Rwf736, 853, 423 to Rwandan Revenue Authority (RRA) in the year 2011. The district had set the target of Collecting Rwf530, 614, 628 in taxes.
The coordinator of RRA in the Southern Province Fidel Mugarura said the district managed to collect huge sums of money yet the districts has few sources of income.
“Ruhango district is not close to any border post and it does not have many sources of income but we were surprised by the huge amount of money they collected,” Mugarura remarked.
This contribution put Ruhango district in the 4th position out of the 8 districts that make up the Southern Province of Rwanda.
The Vice Mayor of in charge of Finance Epimaque Twagirumukiza said that even though they tried their best to collect such amount of revenue some business people still evade taxes
Twagirumukiza said that they will keep tracking down those who doge paying taxes and revenues and whoever is caught will be seriously punished to act an example to others. This will improve the collection of taxes and revenues in the district.
Ruhango boasts of 1, 241 revenue and tax payers working in various sectors that make up the district.
