Gisenyi health centre is to soon open a laboratory.The laboratory which has been under construction for the past three years will test for different diseases and as well as aid research and internship for medical staff at the healthy centre.
“We expect the grand laboratory opening by the end of march,” confirmed Ezekiel Nsengiyumva, Vice Mayor in charge of Economic affairs,Rubavu District.
UNICEF injected 25MillionRfw into the laboratory’s construction; however the construction works were slowed down by construction company which swindled part of the funds.
“We had to improvise means of getting funds to construct the laboratory as the court helps us recover the money that the construction company swindled,” explains Miriam Mukeshimana, Director of Gisenyi Healthy Centre.
Residents can’t wait for the new laboratory to start operating.
“We won’t have to spend loads of money on checkups that our laboratory can offer. We are delighted that at least health care has been given priority, through this new invention,” commented one resident
