Residents at the centre of Rugarama sector-Burera district have found the most interesting use of their old plastic shoes.
When we visited this place this March2012, there were no people but sacs full of used plastic shoes were lying in front of an old house.
One of the shoes buyer revealed to us that they buy shoes at Rwf150 per kilogram.
We buy the old shoes take them to Uganda where they are recycled into new shoes or other plastic materials, explains the buyer.
After collecting a lot of them, a vehicle comes for them and it collects them even from other centres.
These plastic shoes are normally worn by women and children in that area.
