Ngororero: Supporting young and single mothers

The Association for Integral Development (ASODEI) is still working on providing support to single mothers especially young girls who give birth out of wedlock to study technical skills.

Young mothers with children out of wedlock in Nyange sector in Ngororero district are already undergoing a 6 months training in tailoring. These young women will after graduating be given tailoring equipment to start working and develop themselves.

According to Esdras Mupenzi the executive secretary of Nyange sector, this project is providing young mothers with hope for the future and confidence to solve their own problems. This project also ensures financial security to curb poverty that usually leads young girls into sexual acts that result into pregnancies.

The executive secretary goes on to say that even after graduating with technical skills, the young women form associations to be followed up and advised.

Nyange sector counts about 300 young women that gave birth out of wedlock out of which 120 will be taught tailoring every year. One of the reasons to the increaser of young girls getting pregnant still at their parents’ homes is the exodus of people that come to this sector working on the construction of infrastructure.
