140 start 3 months training at Remera Hospitality Academy

Remera Hospitality & Tourism Academy on Tuesday carried out an induction exercise for 140 hotel and restaurant employees from all over the country who will be trained for three months.

According to Sam Barigye the coordinator of Hospitality & Tourism training at The Workforce Development Authority (WDA), the training is divided into sections of; Front Office Operations, House Keeping, Culinary Art  and Food and Beverages.

While addressing the trainees, the Director of Partnership (WDA) Didier Munezero told them to aim at providing better services owing to skills expected to be acquired through this training.

Employers of these trainees were also encouraged to join the Association of Hotel and Restaurants owners for the harmonization all activities aimed at promoting quality service delivery and customer care in hospitality and tourism.

Remera Hospitality and Tourism academy will begin offering Diploma courses by September 30, 2013.

Adhering to the Competency Based Training (CBT) standards aligned to the Rwanda TVET Qualification Framework (RTQF).

The following courses will be offered; a two-year Diploma course in Culinary Art, Food & Beverage, Front Office, Housekeeping and Tour Guiding Travel Operations.

Also on offer will be a one-year Advanced Diploma in Rooms Division Management, Food & Beverage management, Travel and Tourism Management and Diploma Courses in Culinary Art.

Besides training at the Academy, WDA through its Hospitality training wing initiated nation-wide hospitality training in the year 2009 and Over 2,182 Hotel and Restaurant employees have since then been trained in technical skills and quality customer care.
