Nyanza District is planning to construct a multi-million stadium which will cost a tune of 2.5 to 3 billion Rwanda francs, according to Mayor Abdallah Murenzi.
Murenzi said that they are now working on a strategic plan for the stadium which will be the first of its kind not only in Southern province but in the whole country.
Murenzi believes that with the stadium will boost excellence of the local talents in the area.
“This will be one of the biggest stadiums in the country. As per the strategic plan suggests, the costs are expected to reach Rwf. 3 billion and the source of funding for the construction will be known upon the completion of the master plan,” added Murenzi without specifying when work on the construction of the stadium will start.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Sports and Culture is set to construct four other stadiums in Bugesera, Nyagatare, Ngoma and Kigali city to help create venues for sportsmen and women.
