After meeting senior European Union officials this week mainly regarding the DRC issue, Foreign Affairs Minister Mushikiwabo Louise on Wednesday met Abdou Diouf, Secretary General of the International Organization of la Francophonie.
The two officials discussed among other issues, the state of affairs in the Great Lakes region, and cooperation with the OIF.
Secretary General Diouf also briefed Mushikiwabo on the state of preparations for the XIV Summit of the Francophonie, which will take place from October 12 to 14 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
It marks the first time ever that the summit will be held in Central Africa, and is expected to bring together the Heads of State and Government of the 56 members of the International Organization of la Francophonie, created in 1978
