More people in Gicumbi District will be supplied with water and electricity, according to Gilbert Rubayita; director of the Electricity, Water and Sanitation (EWSA) in the District.
He revealed it at the 2012/2013 performance contract presentation which took place on 9/11/2013. Gicumbi residents commended the initiative saying that they now have electricity, water, Biogas, plus good service delivery all given out by EWSA.
“We now have different electrical machines brought in our area because of the presence of electricity,” said one resident Francois Karekezi, who added that they even have light in their homes.
This development is moving with other commendable activities. Gicumbi District statistics show that, about 36 per cent have electricity.
The official further said that the power supply will be covering 80 percent of the district in the near future.
About six water channels were renovated, a power line from Gisuna-Rwili-Buhambe was reconstructed and about 6400 homes have electricity, with 2600 homes accessing water.
“We want to show people how far we have gone in giving out our services and also be able to get people’s suggestions which will help us provide better services,” said Karitanyi at the ceremony.
