Some of the entrepreneurs during the training in Gatsibo district
Entrepreneurs in Gatsibo district have been called upon to create and educate others on setting up income generating projects for reducing unemployment.
The call was made on November 5, 2013 at Gatsibo district multi-purpose hall during the meeting with private sector, entrepreneurs, cooperatives and associations working in Gatsibo district.
The one day training was organized by Workforce Development Authority (WDA) in association with SDF Skills Development Fund (SDF).
SDF is a financing arrangement within the Workforce Development Authority (WDA) that provides funds for rapid skills delivery through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
According to Polcarpe Nshimirimana the in charge of training at Workforce Development Authority (WDA) revealed that the training is meant to equip entrepreneurs on making income generating projects.
This is because entrepreneurs train other residents after knowing how to use their knowledge to develop skills.
Workforce Development Authority (WDA) is an institutional framework to provide a strategic response to the skills development challenges facing the country across all sectors of the economy.
Despite the commitment towards creating jobs, entrepreneurs confess to meet the challenge of accessing bank loans.
Laurent Muyombano, president of KABACO (bee keepers cooperative) in Gatsibo district laments that the biggest challenge they face is lack of professionals.
“A professional charges a lot to train us while we cannot afford it,” he lamented.
