Singer Mani Martin has expressed his satisfaction and faith in his newest recruits of his band after four former members of Benegihanga - a band he founded – deserted him while they had gone to perform at the Francophonie Festival in Paris France in September this year.
Ntizatureka Didier, Christian Ngirinshuti, Ndengera Fabrice and Munyarugerero Gerard all went missing after the band had been awarded bronze medal at the festivities, leaving a dejected Mani Martin with only Ras Makayaga as his only remaining member.
But performing at Kigali Serena Hotel on November 9 during a session by Comedy Knights, the star said he had recovered from the loss of the quartet and took an opportunity to present the audience his newest music partners. He said, “It was disappointing to lose such an experienced band, but life has to go on. I take this opportunity to tell you that these are the people I will be working with.”
Mani Martin is arguably among the most successful local and regional artistes. He has won numerous accolades including the 2008 Best Gospel Artist at Salax Awards and the “Best Traditional Artist of the Year” category in 2012 at the same awards.
His music reflects the influences of both Rwandan and international artistes, while his themes mostly touch on peace, reconciliation and unity.
