Gicumbi District supports vulnerable, youth and refugees

After training the youth, the vulnerable and even the refugees in Gicumbi district in different technical skills the International Organization of Migration (IOM) have supported the same category of people with tools and equipment to support the skills they were taught.
The vulnerable group of people who were supported with such tools on 22^nd.April.2013 says their lives are yet to change for the better and work towards development. The youth are so appreciative for the skills they are equipped with and especially the tools to make them working easier as one of them Gerard Manirakiza explains.

Among the technical schools that the youth were able to acquire include carpentry, welding with 20 students; tailoring had 74 students, crocheting with 14 students, and mechanics with 13 students, hair dressing with 13 students and construction was learnt by 26 students.
About 182 youth were trained in 5 months courses and on the end of their courses; they were given tools to put to use the training they had as well as Rwf22.000 each to start off with their personal projects.

The International Organization of Migration also gave 129 goats and 71 pigs to the vulnerable people in the district along with iron sheets to people who lost their houses to natural disasters through the Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugee Affairs.
Fidele Mutunzi who represented IOM says this organization is meant to support returnees and vulnerable people to attain development. IOM operates in 5 sectors of Gicumbi district of Byumba, Kageyo, Rukomo, Rutare and Rushaki.
