Makanyaga to mentor the Rwandan Blues Workshop

Untitled2

Legendary musician Makanyaga Abdoul will mentor a two-day music workshop that will see attendants benefit from the veteran’s vast knowledge in music. In collaboration with Ibrahim Tam-Fum, the duo will teach Igisope, guitar, solfeggio, chant and composition at Goethe Institute on 25th and 26th September 2013 from 6.30 pm.

Makanyaga and Tam-Fum undoubtedly belong to the few great musicians of a generation rooted in the twentieth century who survived the horrific events of 1994 and continued to play music, with the groups “Makanyaga” and Tam-Fum “Le magician de la guitar” until today.

Makanyaga has also refused to throw in the towel, having featured in various contemporary music collaborations. His old school track Rubanda was redone at Kina Music where he featured with Tom Close, Christopher, Knowless and Dream Boyz to resuscitate the onetime favorite hit. The workshop couldn’t have come at a better time with many people calling for experienced and already established musicians to mentor young and upcoming artists. Participants will part with absolutely nothing for the workshop.
