Hillside school organizes nursery three and primary six graduation
NYAGATARE: Hillside Day and Boarding Primary School in Matimba Sector, Nyagatare District, on Friday handed over certificates of merit to 179 Nursery Three and Primary six pupils in a colorful graduation ceremony.
The ceremony, attended by school pupils, management and parents was hugely characterized by enthusiastic parade done by pupils, traditional dances as well as poems that excited the audience.
Addressing the parents, the school principal and founder, Col.(Rtd) Thadeo Gashumba said that this year’s graduation of pupils was organized purposely to award them certificates of merit that give them outstanding recognition for completion of Nursery and Primary school.
He said that the certificates facilitate both children in case they want to go to another school.
“This graduation ceremony reflects the real values and norms of Hillside school. It is also a policy that we have initiated to facilitate our children and their parents in case they go to other schools,” he said.
He thanked the school management and parents for their exceptional efforts put in promoting education in the district and country as whole.
“Without parents’ participation and efforts, Hillside wouldn’t have reached this far. I want to openly thank you for your efforts and determination to endure that education in the country is maintained.”
He promised parents to start up a secondary school next year but largely called on the government to facilitate the school management to acquire enough land for construction of classrooms.
“We shall start with senior one up to senior three due to limited land for classrooms construction. But hopefully the government will facilitate us to get more land for extension.”
Shilla Munezero, a 12-year-old who graduated from primary school was excited to be honoured with a certificate of primary school completion.
“Today was an extra-ordinary one for me. The school management has surprised us especially with graduation ceremony. Not all pupils have chances to complete primary with certificates meaning that the one I have been given here is a motivation to work hard and excel in education,” she said.
