The new executive Committee of the National University of Rwanda Students Union (NURSU) has been sworn in.
They pledged to efficiently serve students of the National University of Rwanda ( NUR) during their term of 2013-2014 academic year .
In his address during the swearing in ceremony, the Acting Rector of the National University of Rwanda Prof. Manasse Mbonye commended the outgoing committee for their achievements and promised collaboration with the incumbent committee.
“We would like to congratulate outgoing students’ leadership for its service to students and the university in general. We wish to commend this committee for their collaboration with NUR management; I believe this collaboration facilitated the achievement of many useful results,” said Mbonye.
Kizito Mugabo, the incumbent NURSU Guild president commended the outgoing committee and promised that the new NURSU leadership will be outstanding representatives of students:
“We are grateful to the outgoing committee for their sacrifice and commitment to resolve students’ problems. We are going to build on the progress achieved and work on ongoing projects. We are ready to face challenges so that we can defend students’ rights.”
Mugabo pledged to collaborate with local and international students unions, different academic entities like Ministry of Education, Rwanda Education board and of course NUR management.
The outgoing Guild president of NURSU Egide Kalisa thanked NUR community for their partnership which enabled the outgoing committee to achieve a lot in different disciplines namely in community service, academic affairs, welfare, sports, entertainment among other disciplines.
He mentioned the advocacy for students regarding the living allowances, community service activities and visibility of NUR among international students unions as the major achievements of the outgoing committee.
