School Head teachers have been called upon to make a follow up on their students’ education by paying a surprise visit to teachers during teaching sessions.
The statement was made during the meeting to commence the 2nd term in April.2012 that brought together all head teachers in Gakenke district.

Jean Bosco Hakizimana the education officer in Gakenke district said that some head teachers did not care to find out how their teachers teach and that is why he asked them to make a follow up on them and notice if there are problems with teachers or students that could affect education.
Head teachers showed concern that Mock examinations done at the district level are prepared in a way that they do not increase students understanding and so asked to be set in a way that can test the understanding of students and their passing capabilities.
These head teachers said that it is only fair for parents to play a part in the education of their children especially those who are about to sit for National Examinations  by giving them materials they will need and space to revise so as to increase the passing rate in Gakenke district.
Gakenke district was the last district in the whole country on students passing the National Examination. This lead to the expulsion of many head teachers whose schools never won these examinations in the last two years.
