Sixty Rwandan born athletes are set to compete this year’s national junior athletics championship slated for this Saturday at Amahoro stadium.
The national athletics federation’s interim secretary general Johnson Rukundo revealed the development recently.
“The aim of this championship is to help us good and aspiring champions who will represent the country at the world junior athletics championships due in Barcelona in May,”
Athletes are set to compete in 100m, 200m, 1500m, 5000m, 8000m, and 10.000m, long and short jump categories.
Meanwhile, the long-awaited elections to elect a new athletics committee will also be held on Sunday at the body’s offices.
Posts that will be filled in include President, 1st and 2nd vice presidents, Secretary General, Treasurer and two advisors.
