HE Nasreldin Wali and Hon James Musoni in a group photo with some genocide survivors who received the donated cows
Sudan’s Ambassador in Rwanda, HE Nasreldin Wali donated twenty Friesian cows to Rwandan genocide survivors from Bugesera district.
The handover ceremonies were presided over on April 6, 2013 in Nyamata sector, by Sudan’s Ambassador in Rwanda, HE Nasreldin Wali, together with the Minister of Local Government, Hon James Musoni.
The donated cows were handed to some genocide survivors from vulnerable families of Ntarama, Ngeruka and Ruhuha sectors of Bugesera district.
The Mayor of Bugesera district, Mr Rwagaju Louis, commended this initiative and thanked the Republic of Sudan for supporting their needy African brothers and sisters, especially those from Bugesera district, especially at this crucial moment when the country is about to commemorate the genocide committed against Tutsi in 1994.
The beneficiaries commended the Rwanda’s Government support, especially through various social protection programs. Mukabisangwa Marie Jacqueline from Ntarama and Nyirinkwaya Vianney from Ruhuha sectors expressed gratitude to both Governments for the donation they had enjoyed.
The Ambassador disclosed that; “this is the beginning of a lasting partnership plan between the two Governments, especially in supporting vulnerable people. This is the beginning but not the end. We need to work closer as Africans”.
The Ambassador of Sudan commended Gacaca jurisdictions as a home grown solution for their contribution towards addressing genocide related cases.
The Minister of Local Government, Hon James Musoni urged those who received the donated cows to take care of them in order to enjoy the expected benefits in increasing land productivity and fighting against malnutrition.
“It is through mutual support, hard work and self-dedication that we shall achieve self-reliance. Towards this objective, the Government will continuously support you and others,” the Minister said.
