Nyabihu: Residents called on to improve quality of education

Alexandre Sahunkuye, vice-mayor in charge of social affairs in Nyabihu district has called on residents to ensure the improvement of education especially preventing school dropping out.
On March 14th 2013 during education meeting, it was cited out that student’s character of promoting themselves to another level when they failed is among the things that keeps education level low.
One of the decisions taken is that parents, local leaders and religious leaders to put efforts together and resolve problems in education sector and improve its quality.

The mayor adds that if a child drops out of school or misses most of the days, the authorities will reach out to the parents to find out why.
On the issue of students who change schools and promote themselves to other classes after failing exams, school head teachers were asked to admit students with ‘Certificates of attendance’ from the first schools and result slips.
In 2012, 334 primary pupils dropped out of school in Nyabihu district.
