First Ladies want HIV prevention beefed up

The First Lady of Rwanda, Mrs. Jeannette Kagame yesterday joined 14 African First Ladies in the annual meeting of the Organisation of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA) on the sidelines of the AU summit in Addis Ababa. 
The First Ladies came together to review the last 10 years since OAFLA was initiated and discussed the organisation’s achievements, challenges and the way forward. The First Ladies re-committed to strengthen HIV prevention efforts. 
The First Ladies’ will Monday convene for the OAFLA General Assembly.
OAFLA was established in 2002 as a continental initiative to advocate and mobilise resources for those affected and infected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and provide leadership at the regional and national level to fight HIV/AIDS in the context of poverty and gender inequality.
